My work on Chickpea Magazine. I’m a part of every step of the process, from the concepting, to contributor management, writing, editing, recipe development, shooting, styling, lettering, design, printing, and selling.
What’s shown here is a tiny snippet of all the work I’ve put into Chickpea - a few of my favorite pages from our last dozen issues.
issue 40: offline
Snap out of the doomscrolling to spend more time doing what you love and value.
issue 39: plenty
When you feel like you’ve got nothing going for you (or society at large), or nothing to eat or wear, there’s actually so much you can pull from.
issue 38: ease
Dead-simple recipes and tips to make cooking feel effortless.
ISSUE 37: Joy
For doomscrollers or anyone who wants to create more joy in their life. (An essential thing in post-lockdown life.)
ISSUE 36: SUSTAINABILITY
An issue on both global and personal sustainability - from how we can be intentional for ourselves (and not burn out) AND the planet.
ISSUE 35: EVERYDAY VEGAN
The issue we’ve been dreaming of making since going vegan over 10 years ago. An essential guide to vegan living, for any skill or interest level.
ISSUE 34: vintage
Central to the idea of sustainability is working with what we already have. We’re avid vintage lovers, so this was a dream issue to put together.
ISSUE 33: fresh
Sure, vegan food is a lot of fruit & vegetables, so the idea of “fresh” comes naturally - but how else can we get a fresh start? This post-peak-pandemic issue aims to find new joy in living.
ISSUE 32: Pause
We had our Vintage issue 85% done when the pandemic began, which was very gathering-focused, so we had to take a pause for many reasons. We put out a best-of issue while waiting to see how the world was changing around us, and when we were ready, put out this home-centric issue instead. It’s all about self-care, living in crisis, and generally slowing down. It sold out the day we received it in print!
ISSUE 31: Simple
Throughout the years, we’ve been looking to pare back in everything we’re doing, so this was an inevitable issue. Easier cooking and living in one more minimally-designed issue.
